Destroy Your Double Chin: Kybella® Injections

The market is flooded with firming creams, slimming straps, lifting masks, and double chin-reducing appliances. You can find all kinds of “exercise” tutorials that claim to shrink a double chin. And yet, despite the abundance of options found on Amazon and TikTok, there is absolutely no scientific evidence that any of these “remedies” minimize the look of fat under the chin.

Kybella® injections are the only FDA-approved injection that destroys fat cells under the chin (submental fat), making it a fantastic non-surgical option to eliminate your double chin and improve your profile.

How does Kybella® work?

Kybella® uses a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. By injecting Kybella® into the fat under the chin, it targets and destroys the fat in that treatment area. Your lymphatic and circulatory systems then clear the dissolved fat from your body over the course of a few weeks.

Once the submental fat is destroyed, your body can no longer store or accumulate fat in that area, preventing your double chin from returning. That’s right; your results are permanent!

How many treatment sessions will I need?

The number of injections needed will vary from patient to patient, depending on your current chin profile, and your desired results. Your healthcare professional will discuss your goals and help determine how many sessions you will need. Every Kybella® treatment is administered at least one month apart, and you shouldn’t need more than six treatments.

What can I expect during the procedure?

During each procedure, you will receive multiple small injections into the fat under your chin. The Kybella® injection process typically takes 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how many injections are administered during that particular appointment (the average patient receives twenty or more small injections per treatment session).

What are the side effects of Kybella®?

Most commonly, you may experience some swelling, bruising, redness, or numbness in the treatment area that should dissipate after a few days and can be easily managed with over-the-counter medication. Your provider will discuss all potential risks and give you aftercare instructions. Most importantly, Kybella® should only be administered by a licensed healthcare professional.

Am I a good candidate for Kybella® injections?

You and your provider will work together to determine if Kybella® is a good option for you. If you are self-conscious about your facial profile and do not want surgery, call for a consultation or book an appointment online.
