Juvéderm is an FDA-approved, hyaluronic acid dermal filler used for non-surgical facial rejuvenation on many areas of the face. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to hydrate it and give it structure and elasticity. When hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm are injected into the facial tissue, age-related volume loss is restored, and the appearance of deep facial folds and severe facial wrinkles is improved.
Juvéderm offers several different products designed for different areas of the face, and your injector will discuss your cosmetic concerns with you to determine the best products for your treatment. Certain Juvéderm dermal fillers are specialized for lip augmentation while others are best used to smooth wrinkles.
Most of our patients do not consider Juvéderm injections to be painful, but we can apply a topical numbing cream at the start of your appointment to maximize your comfort. Your injector will place a few Juvéderm injections into the treatment area discussed during your consultation. Juvéderm only takes a few minutes to inject, and the entire appointment is less than 30 minutes.
Results and Recovery
There is minimal recovery and downtime needed after Juvéderm treatment. Mild bruising, swelling, and tenderness around the injection site are common side effects but should resolve within a few days. Depending on which filler you receive during your skin injection procedures, results can last anywhere from 6-18 months.
Men and women in overall good health who want to smooth the appearance of deep wrinkles or restore the definition of their face can benefit from Juvéderm. If you have an active skin infection or are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, you will be recommended to wait to receive treatment. Severe allergic reactions are not as common with hyaluronic acid fillers since this is a substance naturally found in the body.
